On the seventh day, the Clemson football team certainly did not rest. It was the first day of two-a-day practices for Tommy Bowden's Tigers, who started preseason practice seven days ago. Clemson worked for two and a half hours in the morning and two hours in the evening as the Tigers prepare for the season opener against Alabama on August 30.

The Southern Miss football team held the first two-a-day practice of the 2008 fall camp Thursday at the Joe P. Park Practice Fields.

Former LSU offensive lineman Jarvis Jones has transferred to Oklahoma. Sooner coach Bob Stoops confirmed the transfer today (August 7). The 6-7, 294-pound Jones will first be eligible to compete at OU in the 2009 season. "Jarvis is a talented guy who we recruited when he was in high school," Stoops said."We're excited that he has joined the team." Originally from Rosenburg, Texas and Lamar Consolidated High School, Jones played in seven games for LSU last season as a freshman.He saw action at both left tackle and right guard in a backup role.Jones logged 63 plays including a season-high 18 against Louisiana Tech.

The Panthers held two practices with split squads at the UPMC Sports Performance Complex.

The Florida Atlantic University football team took the field in practice shorts and no pads for their second day of preseason workouts. Practice went for just over two and a half hours, with the second half focused on 7 on 7 drills and implementing plays.

The Indiana football team held its second practice in shoulder pads on Thursday, Aug. 7. The Hoosier have four weeks of practice leading up to their matchup with Western Kentucky on Aug. 30. In addition to working on drills, the Hoosiers participated in conditioning activities, 7-on-7 and full 11-on-11 matchups.

The University of Cincinnati football team followed up its first two-a-day practice with a sprited two-hour workout Thursday at Higher Ground Conference Center.

The University of New Mexico football team turned in another high-energy practice on a warm Thursday afternoon at the UNM practice fields. The intensity will increase even more on Friday when the Lobos put on full pads for the first time this summer. Several former Lobos, meanwhile, have been making an impact in NFL training camps and will look to continue their strong play as the preseason schedule gets underway in earnest around the country tonight.
