West Virginia quarterback Pat White apologized Thursday for his comments that accused Mountaineer baseball coach Greg Van Zant of not pursuing black athletes.
White has been selected three times in baseball's amateur draft. He was asked Tuesday at the Big East football media day in Newport, R.I., whether he had spoken with Van Zant about the possibility of playing college baseball.
White said Van Zant "wasn't interested" in having him on the team and was "not too high" on black players.

Baylor Head Coach Art Briles' first Bears squad reported for fall camp Thursday, July 31, and will begin practice Friday. Baylor opens its 2008 season Aug. 28 when it hosts 2007 Meineke Bowl champion Wake Forest at Floyd Casey Stadium in front of a national television audience on FSN.
Baylorbears.com will provide daily practice reports as well as quotes and video soundbites from Briles and players throughout fall camp.

State lawmakers have requested that members of the Iowa Board of Regents attend a special meeting in September to talk about an investigation into an alleged sexual assault by two former Iowa football players while they were at the school.
The co-chairs of the Legislature's Joint Government Oversight Committee sent a letter to Regents president David Miles on Thursday. In it, they ask that Miles and other members of the board appear at a special committee meeting on Sept.
